I totally thought this was the last book in Sunaya’s story but that obviously wasn’t the case. An eighth book came out a few days ago after Fenris’s trilogy was completed, and I’m so happy. Cue happy sigh!
But back to this. I thought it was pretty well done. It set a nice pace of endings to come, slowly tying up loose ends while still creating drama and suspense. I liked seeing Sunaya mature, it totally gave off nostalgic vibes. Though honestly, I would’ve been just as content with watching her beat the shit out of some of the assholes. lol. The climax was great and pretty scary, but it left me a little wanting in the end because I wanted to know about the goddess who whispered to Sunaya throughout the series. She’s like there but… not. It’s almost like a tease.
One of the things I love about this is how no matter what happens to Sunaya, she isn’t given special treatment, she toughs it out and comes out better than she was before with her core still good. I love that. She’s snarky and a bit hard, but knows how to have fun and doesn’t let anyone degrade her. It was her bravery and quick thinking that won me over. You should definitely check her out, because she’s one of my favorite heroines.
