Dear Reader,

I don’t think I’ve ever come across a book like this. Jade is a witch, but her sister’s a vampire, and they share one body that magically transfigures itself according to the current soul in charge. Rad idea, right? And then because of their different, strong personalities, the book is all about Jade going along with Ruby’s latest shenanigan.

I liked that Jade had to learn to do something out of her comfort zone. She befriended people she normally would be too shy to talk to, and because they’re her sister’s band mates, it’s easier to open up to them without having to keep Ruby a secret. I liked the whole idea of what this author decided to do, but I thought the writing needed a lot of work. The dialogue, the transitions, the characters’ depths. Throughout the book, I kept pausing to question Jade’s way of thinking. I got bored at times when Bell decided to narrate the story through Jade’s POV instead of writing them out with dialogue. In general, I just got the sense that she’d give a little here and there and then move on, that she and Grady had their weird moments, that she didn’t really convey a proper ‘sister relationship’ with Ruby. Like it was almost as if Ruby was just a split personality than an actual sister she’d grown up with. Overall, I thought it was an okay read. Would I continue? Maybe. I’m intrigued enough to wonder where the story will go after the way it ended.

Happy Reading,

A Little Darling
